The family story

In the eighteenth century the Czartoryskis stood at the centre of the political grouping known as the Familia. Puławy became both an estate and a cultural project, while Izabela Czartoryska’s collecting helped turn family patronage into a story about preserving national memory.

After the partitions, Adam Jerzy Czartoryski became one of the leading figures of Polish émigré politics in Paris. That makes the family unusually good at connecting place, politics, collecting and exile.

Branches & continuity

One name, several lines

Keep the political Familia, the Sieniawski inheritance and the later museum/émigré story together. They explain how wealth, collecting and politics moved through the same family network.
