Training across borders
Born in 1896, Rytel studied during the upheavals of the First World War, including study in Kharkiv, while taking part in Polish educational and youth organisations.
A life in medicine
He specialised in internal medicine, working as a hospital physician and senior doctor, including connections with St Stanisław Hospital and Wola Hospital in Warsaw.
Beyond the hospital
His life also encompassed activity in Polish communities abroad, illustrating how Polish professional networks and social organisations crossed national borders during the twentieth century.
Remembered at Holy Cross
The memorial plaque at Warsaw’s Holy Cross Church depicts him as a doctor, scholar and social activist. His full biography is recorded in the Polish Biographical Dictionary.
