Poland can be reduced surprisingly quickly to vodka, pierogi, cold winters and people who supposedly never smile. This is where I pull those assumptions apart — and occasionally step back to ask bigger questions about how modern Poland works, where it is going and what might be worth learning from it.
Poland Explained is where the site steps back and asks what modern Poland actually feels like — and why. That can mean everyday oddities, weather and stereotypes, but also bigger questions about identity, development, technology, security and the choices shaping the country's future.

Spring, summer, autumn and winter are only part of the story. This video follows the Polish year through its less tidy transitions and what they actually mean for anyone living in or visiting the country.

When one of these videos brushes against a bigger subject, the rest of the site can take over — traditions for the heritage behind it, guides for the practical answer, or personal vlogs for what it actually felt like to live through.
